Overview
Every Analyze page provides a simple way to produce a default presentation containing the most insightful charts for the selected provider.
In this article we will examine where the content of the default presentation can be found in Marketscape, then we will summarize the content of each section of the default presentation.
To create the default presentation, click at the top right of the Analyze page.
Once the default presentation has been created, you can save it and customize it, adding other charts that you have saved to your chart cart.
In this article we need to differentiate between the initial provider, that is, the provider on the Analyze page where we clicked on Presentation, and the post-acute agencies chosen for comparison in the presentation. We call the initial provider - selected, and the agencies - chosen. (The "chosen" post-acute agencies were added to the report using the Add/Edit interface as shown in the image below.
Where do the Charts come from?
The table below has an image of a default presentation on the left and an overlay image on the right that indicates where each table/chart can be found in Marketscape.
Some charts are built specifically for this presentation and are based on the SNFs you added in the Add/Edit Comparisons interface when you created the presentation. As a result, those tables are unique to the presentation you created and do not exist anywhere else in Marketscape.

Information about Patient Population
Patient Volume - Inpatient The Patient Volume chart provides trended metrics on three patient counts: Distinct Medicare Patients, SNF Patients, and In-facility Mortalities. These metrics apply to the selected hospital or agency. For more information, click here. |
Diagnostic Breakout by Stay This chart shows the breakout of patient diagnoses per patient stay for the selected hospital or agency. The diagnostic categories shown are Trella Health's unique diagnostic grouping model based on the ICD-10 Chapters. For more information, click here. |
Patient Age This table gives a simple breakout of the patients for the selected hospital or agency by age. For more information, click here. |
Hospice Destinations
The Hospice Destinations table contains a list of the chosen hospices and shows counts of patients treated and discharged by the selected facility. This table provides a quick view of the aggregated patient flow from the source facility to your chosen hospice destinations. You can quickly identify:
- Comparative patient counts and trends between your agency and key competitors.
- Comparative readmission rates between your agency and key competitors.
At the top-left of the table is a dropdown that will allow you to select the source claim type for the table; Inpatient, Outpatient, or a combination, Inpatient/Outpatient.
To understand the metrics in this table navigate to the article on the complete table from the Analyze page, click here.
Facility Utilization - Inpatient
The metrics in this chart are a trended percentage, by quarter, of the selected hospital's patients who were admitted to Hospice services during the one year reporting period and who were discharged from the selected hospital within 30 days prior of admission to hospice. The chart includes county and state benchmarks for comparison.
This table and chart are called Hospice Utilization on the Facilities Analyze page.
Outcomes by Setting: Inpatient
This chart shows you the readmission rates or mortality rates for patients discharged from the selected facility, broken down by the post-acute destinations home health, hospice and skilled nursing. Along with the metrics for your selected facility, you can see the county and state metrics for comparison.
This chart provides an instant view of the success/failure of post-acute providers who treated the selected facilities patients in comparison to the county and state average. This chart strongly suggests that you look up the specific rates for your agency for comparison on your agency's Analyze page.
Click this image to see the chart by itself, and large.
To see all of the metrics from which this chart is created, you can look at the Analyze page for the selected hospital or agency, in the Utilization and Quality tab, in the Outcomes by Setting: Inpatient table, as shown in the image below.
Facility Quality by Utilization Stage
This chart is set up backwards. You will want to compare bars of the same color across the different SNFs listed. There is no value in comparing the different colors of the bars for a single provider as the chart is set up.
For this example, we chose the metrics for ALLEGHENY HEALTH NETWORK HEALTHCARE AT HOME HOSPICE & PALLIATIVE CARE

This chart shows four different performance metrics for each of your chosen SNFs:
